DBU funds validation of the NEANDER turbo diesel outboard engine

Under the project name “Field tests and optimization of a novel, fuel saving and lowemission outboard engine” the foundation Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt (German Federal Environmental Foundation, DBU) provides NEANDER Shark GmbH a subsidy in the form of a non-repayable grant. Thus the DBU supports the validation phase of our innovative product scheduled for 2015.

The DBU is one of Europe’s largest foundations and promotes innovative and exemplary environmental projects. The Foundation focuses on supporting projects which help to protect the environment by integrating products and production methods and by shaping attitudes with environmental education programmes.

The guidelines of support include environmental technology, environmental provision and research, nature protection and environmental communication. Model for the promoting activities of the German Federal Environmental Foundation is sustainable development.

This is the same goal NEANDER Shark GmbH pursues with the development of the world’s first turbodiesel outboard engine. Traditionally diesel is the fuel in marine. Diesel offers lower operational expenditure, better availability (fuel logistics) and reduced risk of fire or explosion.

The newly developed NEANDER turbodiesel outboard engine with the unique twin crankshaft technology has – compared to gasoline engines with the same power – a lower value of fuel consumption and thus reduced occuring emissions (CO2, CO, HC).

Especially in the field of commercial shipping using numerous small workboats – that require extremely long hours of operation – the NEANDER outboard engine will reduce fuel consumption and improve environmental performance.
